Remerging Mermaid

Remerging Mermaid (2001) was envisioned the moment that I came upon the raw stone. I could see the shape of the female mermaid form upside down as if diving into the water or for that matter, penetrating the Earth through the seabed. The strong color of the green steatite is reminiscent of water and the ancient limestone base of fossilized sea life immortalizes the mermaid myth. This original Remerging Mermaid sculpture has also been cast (2003) into a limited bronze edition of eight sculptures
