Black Morpheous

Chiseled from Indian Bombay black steatite, Black Morpheous (2004) began life as a non figurative abstract form that I was carving when one day I came into the studio and saw this arched female form emerging from within the stone. From that moment on I began to carve her out. She became very clear to me. The figure is connected to a heart shape that forms the base. The female figure actually 'morphs' out of the heart and stone.
